28th of Marenpoth - Regulators Assemble!

The day had been much colder the normal for this time of year, a heavy frost in the morning lingered for much of the day. Water that was still pooled from the rain yesterday was frozen in small pockets on the ground.

The light from the sun also seemed muted today. A dreary gloom covered the valley throughout the daylight hours. Only the fresh smell of wood fires in the air seemed to brighten folks' spirit throughout the day.

As the sun was slowly setting on the Western horizon, a sound like distant rolling thunder could be heard echoing from the Mountains just north of town. The sound seemed to be getting louder and closer as time wore on.

Hearing the dreadful noice, many of the townspeople ran to their home as a fear of the demons return stuck their mind.

The sound became louder and clearer as the minutes wore on. One could tell that the noise seemed to be that of many hooves pounding on the stone paths.

Rolling into the edge of town at a breakneck pace were 4 huge wagons, 3 of which were empty with large flat wooden racks on the outside. Each of the three empty wagons were equipped with large fat tires an were drawn by 6 large horses. The other was a covered wagon that looked like it could store food and other items. It was also pulled by 6 horses.

The driver of the lead wagon could be heard as they barreled past the sentries on the northern part of the village, "HELP! HELP! We were attacked and need HELP! Yelled a large human with red hair and beard. "

The town guards quickly gathered on the scene to assist the travellers.

The driver hopped off the wagon and began yelling to the guards, "We were attacked and need medical help for two of my men."

At that moment, two Half orcs came out of the back of the covered wagon with what looked like several people covered in blankets

A moment later, several of the acolytes from the church of Lathander arrived and offered their assistance.

The half-orcs laid the people on the ground, and the acolytes moved the blankets to look at the injuries. Screams could be heard and some ran from the scene.

The faces of both men were badly torn and their arms also were covered in blood and mangled. One of the individuals was actually missing an arm.

The acolytes instructed the visitors to gather up their comrades and bring them to the Church of Lathander right away. The two burly half-orcs picked up their comrades and they all ran to the church.

"I must speak to the town leader," said the red haired man. "It’s very important. "

One of the town guards ran off to get the Mayor. Mayor Baugh arrived several minutes later and asked what was going on. The red-bearded man whispered something to the mayor.

The Mayor Baugh had a look of concern cross his face, and yelled to one of the town guards, “Send word to the Regulators and the Council members that we need to meet imemediately”.

Once everyone was gathered inside the town hall, the guards closed the doors to the rest of the public.

Mayor Baugh turned to the red-bearded man and said, "Now that we are all here, please tell us of this demon attack you and your men suffered."

The red-beared man slowly stood from his chair and began speaking.

"My name is Turgot Drolov and I was leading a group of lumberjacks working on some older trees about a several dozen miles North of town."

Turgot casts and imposing shadow, standing well over 6 feet in height and all muscle. He clears his throat before continuing.

"Last night we found a cove with a waterfall near the main road where we were working. We had made camp for the night and this morning our cook and one of the other men where getting breakfast ready when we were attacked. Our cook Nevrisk screamed and Jalmar looked and saw him flying in the air and going face first into a large tree."

Turgot, takes a deep breath before continuing.

"Those screems woke the rest of us up. I was the first out of the tents and saw Jalmar floating in the air with a pink colored rope around his arm and there were several more of those ropes trying to grab Nervisk who was now on the ground. I grabbed my ax and started to move to help Nervisk when suddenly Jalmar was flung towards me like a sac of potatoes. In the process the pink ropes that were holding on to his arm ripped it out of its socket."

"I then lunged at one of the pink ropes and hit it with my ax. The blade bit deep into it and almost severed the rope. All of a sudden the ropes retracted and disappeared into the woods with the arm."

"We quickly tried to help both of them but Nervisk is our healer and he was out cold. So we hastily packed up our camp and headed back to town. It took us all day to get here, some of those mountain passes are pretty slow going with the wagons we had. Unfortunately I never saw what the pink ropes were attached to it as it was still very dark and the sun had just started to rise. "

The Mayor stood up from his seat and said, "Sounds like more demons to me, and is something that needs to be looked into right away. Maybe there is another portal up that way and these creatures came through from there."

Mayor Baugh turns to address the Regulators, "Do any of you have any idea if this is a demon attack? Do any of you have any ideas on what these creatures could be?"

Brannic flips through some notes he apparently brought with him. "I'm not a Demonic expert, but just pink ropes or tentacles aren't much to go on. We will need some detailed directions on how to get to the ambush site. From there we can begin an investigation into what exactly happened."
