Grey's Deep

This Blog is intended to journal the exploits of the team of Dungeons and Dragons player characters called the Regulators. The Regulators operate in a region of the Forgotten Realms called "The North". Specifically, they exist in a valley in the Greypeak Mountains.

Mixed feelings as the Regulators return - 27th of Melting

Local townsfolk greeted the Regulators as they returned home to Grey's Deep today. The fence project, which was started before they departed, had just been finished the prior day. The elation the town felt at this accomplishment was dimmed with the news brought by the Regulators.

It seems Pyril was ambushed by a group of Gnolls working for a young Green Dragon in the western woods. The Regulators were able to defeat the band but not before they consumed his body. They were only able to recover his head from the grisley scene.

The Regulators didn't reveal too much information to the townsfolk on their arrival. They were immediately taken to the town council to relay all they had discovered.

In the meantime, the townsolk have setup a makeshift memorial in the center of town dedicated to Pyril. Many fear his departure as a bad omen about things to come. With all the bad events in recent months, many people fear a great calamity will soon befall Grey's Deep.

The Regulators are taken before the Council members and asked to tell them what happened.

Well stated Caurus. I will join you in going back to the ruins with Nimbus for training.

:::Speaking to the council::: The graces of Lathandar have allowed us to be victorious in the battle against the Green dragon and its Gnoll followers. We must look at this battle as a great vicory for Grey's Deep and the Regulators. This should bring much statbility and security back to the region at least for the time being. We still need to seek out Birchnor in the next 10 day as he has granted us one question.
With all of this being said does the council have any recomendations on what questions to bring forth to Birchnor. I believe Seraph and possibly other Regulators may be able to bring forth the question to Birchnor.

I would also like to propose Grey's Deep hold a memorial celebration in honor of Pyril. In addition I willing to make a donation to help fund the construction of a statue of Pyril as part of this memorial. I would be more than happy to organize this and find generous people to contribute to the memorial.
What say you?

:::Mayor Baugh:::

A memorial service is an excellent idea. Pyril had done much for the community and I think it only appropriate for us to celebrate him and the many things he did for us. I don't think he'd want a statue however. We could start a nature fund and use it for improving the landscape in the area and also for getting more saplings ready for the Festival of Trees next spring.

As to the issue of the question for Birchnor - I'm deeply troubled that so much has happened in this tiny valley recently and I fear things are only going to get worse. We need to understand why all these things are happening now and what we can do to stop them. I would beseech the Regulators to travel to this Birchnor and see if we can learn what he knows of what's going on.

Mr Mayor, I think your nature fund is a great idea, how about going bigger by establishing a new nature park in the name of Pyril with walking paths and maybe a picnic and play area within for the families and kids. If you like this idea, I could lead the donation efforts for this Pyril Nature Park, just say the word and it will be done. I really think the townsfolk would like to have a place to unwind and take their minds off of all of the comotion going on lately in Grey's Deep.

"Seraph!" "Wake up." ::::: thinking the last trip must have put a toll on the old man:::::
"What say you Seraph about leading the remaining group back to seek out Birchnor and to find out the answers we are seeking?"

Jellen,

I think your idea is an excellent one. We be most honored if you would lead the efforts in co-ordinating the efforts to put such a park in place. I'll discuss the location for the park with the rest of the Council members and let you know where we can put this up.

I think Jellen's contribution will be more than sufficient to pay for any resources required to build the park. I think the townsfolk along with Pyril's apprentices would appreciate the gesture. For now, a memorial service will be planned for Pyril for tomorrow evening for the entire town. After the memorial we can discuss how to further honor him.

Again I would like to say that all of your efforts are greatly appreciated and please do not take this setback as a failure on your part. Pyril was an exceptional adventurer before he decided to "retire" and shepard this sleepy little village. The fact you were able to bring his tormentors to justice says both of the dangers we face and your growing strengh and reputation in this valley. On behalf of the Council I would like to thank you again for all you have done for us all.

(At this point a guard steps behind the mayor and whispers something in his ear)

::: Mayor Baugh :::

Thank you for the update gentlemen. Please let me know what you find out from this Birchnor fellow.

::: With his last comment, the guards graciously escort the Regulators from the council hall :::
