Grey's Deep

This Blog is intended to journal the exploits of the team of Dungeons and Dragons player characters called the Regulators. The Regulators operate in a region of the Forgotten Realms called "The North". Specifically, they exist in a valley in the Greypeak Mountains.

Tragidor Returns - 30th of Melting

Just several days after the Regulators returned, a familiar face has also returned to Grey's Deep. Tragidor and his Merchant caravan rolled into town carrying new trade goods and speciality items.

With news of the towns growing wealth and hostilities, Tragidor was able to bring in more items the townsfolk may be interested in.

(At this point of the town's economic growth - the GP item cap has increased from 100 GP to 300 GP for equipment. Unless explicitly outlined, items costing over 300 GP are not available. This cap increase does not apply to armor, weapons or magic items - this is still at 100 GP).

In addition to his trade goods, Tragidor has brought an influx of Platinum Pieces as well. Characters wishing to trade in their Gold Pieces to Platinum may do so (up to 500 GP) for a Money Exchanging fee of 2%. This will reduce the total coinage PCs will be carrying.

Otherwise characters wishing to trade coins in may still see the village jeweler. There are various gemstones and pieces of jewelry available for purchase.

NOTE: At this point Caurus and Jellen are out of town heading to get training from Nimbus. Due to some confusion relating to the benefits of the training, I'm modifying the result of the training. After spending 30 days training, the character will receive a +1 Competence bonus to Melee attacks only (not Ranged). This bonus applies to the various maneuvers as well (Grapple, Disarm, Trip, etc.) Caurus or Jellen, if either of you wish to change your minds please let me know. Also, who is going to see Birchnor? Time is about to run out on the question and I'd like to know if anyone is going to see him and what question they are going to ask him.

Jellan, Jode and Brannic, do any of you wish to accompany me to meet with Birchnor? I hope at least one of you will travel with me.

I am looking for some insight as to the question we should pose Birchnor. I am currently praying to Lathander in hopes he will enlighten me with golden rays of wisdom.

I assume we wish to find the source of the ails of the the Whispering Woods, but how do we pose the question? I am unfamiliar with the disposition of trees and other nature-type creatures, particularly plant life. They defy normal logic...

May the sun shine ever upon you.

I would be happy to go with you to see Birchnor. However, with regards to the question, I'm not one who is good with words.

It sure does seem like the little town of Grey's Deep has gotten some strange attention in the past several weeks. Between a Hobgoblin sending wolves against hunters, Kobolds attacking trade Caravans and Gnolls and a Dragon digging around an old ruin in the forest, I'm not sure what to ask myself.

Perhaps Vig or Jode may have some insight. Jellen and Caurus left yesterday for that training stuff.

Was that Vig's voice I heard...I thought he was off in the ruins, training with Nimbus. Weird...

:::Brannic leans over and whispers:::

Um Seraph, Jellen and Caurus left yesterday for the training with Nimbus. Vig's working on repairing Caurus' new sword.

Ohh, my mistake. I guess I thought the warrior of the group went to improve his fighting skills. Plus, it's not often you get wisdom from a dwarf.

I think I need a new pair of glasses. Anyone versed in optical repair?

Well Seraph, Jode and Vig any ideas on the question for Birchnor?

Time's running out. If we don't hit the road by nightfall (Friday 09/16) we won't make it there in time.

Ahh, what day is today? I'm sorry, I thought we had a week.

Well, I've been pondering this question. Birchnor will not know everything about the area as I don't think he is as old as the Netheril Empire. Since the ruins we're once a structure of the long dead society, I'm not sure it would be of much use. Of course, I could be wrong. It's not like I'm an all seeing, all knowing oracle. I am not a master of the dungeons either...But I'm rambling again.

I thought our main concern in all of this was Krichnor, as he seems to be the organizer in all three related incidents. I'm trying to understand the relationship between the ruins and Grey's Deep and this Krichnor's apparent interest in them.

I digress, however, and wonder back to the question we should pose to an aged tree. How long has he been around…since the first seedling was planted in the Whispering Woods. When did the Netheril Empire fall, a millennia ago?

:::To answer Seraph's question:::

The Regulators left on the 20th of Melting and spoke with Birchnor on the 22nd. As payment for rooting out the spy in his midst, he'd answer 1 question they pose. The question must be asked within 1 Tenday of that date, so the Regulators would need to get there by the 2nd of Mirtul (next Month). Thus time is indeed almost up.

Let's head out then. What is the date today again?

:::What is the game date?:::

Vig, don't we know who "owned" the ruins? I thought it was Nimbus' master, an arch-mage of the Netheril Empire.

How about, "Where can we find Krichnor?"

:::Seraph's sprints to Tragidor's wagon:::

Tragidor, if I may make a request. My collegue Vig, told me of a piece of armor called a Dastana that could provide some form of protection for me. He said this piece of armor, when combined with a metal called Mithril, would allow me to wear it without being restricted by it. If you find any, know that you have a buyer here in Grey's Deep.

Thanks...

Tragidor looks down from his wagon at Seraph,

"Mithril is indeed a rare metal. I cannot guarantee I will return with some, but if I find some I will bring some to you."

Pulls a log book from under the wagon's seat. And skims through several pages.

"As for Dastana's, I do know your local armorsmith has several currently available. You may want to check with him for some of these until I return. Is there anything else you'd like to request?"

Okay, great. But keep us in mind if you find any of that metal called Mithril.

Oh, and if you find any holy symbols, phylacterys or miscellaneous items of Lathandar, please consider trading them to us. We may need to replace some of the damaged religious items from the attack.

Thanks Tragidor and may the light of the Morning Lord guide you safely on your journey.
