11th of Marpenoth - Aftermath

The town is still reeling from the news that Regulators and members of the town guard discovered several murders at farmhouses located just several miles outside of town.

Of the 15 people who resided in the area, only 9 were recovered. Of these 8 were under the influence of some sort of Dark magic. One of the Regulators also fell victim to this dark magic while trying to repulse the threat. Currently all affected individuals are being held in the church of Lathander while undergoing treatment from the Abbott. Initial reports indicate that a treatment has been found for the condition, but it will take some time for everyone affected to fully recover.

Meanwhile, it was discovered that a small portal was unsealed during the recent earthquake. Speculation abouds that the creatures who caused all this havoc must have come through the portal once it was opened. Based on reports from the Regulators, they were able to thwart one of the creatures from sacrificing 2 farmers to enlarge the portal. Currently it is too small to allow much to get through. The cave has been temporarily sealed until a permanent solution can be found.

1st of Marpenoth - Dinner with the Council

After a joyous day of celebration, the townsfolk of Grey's Deep went back to work today.

Farmers finished harvesting the crops left in the field and prepared their stocks for winter. Local craftsmen and merchants purchased supplies from a passing merchant caravan to replenish their stocks. Regular townsfolk went back to their regular routine.

During the morning, messengers sent from the mayor searched out each of the Regulators in town. The Regulators were presented with a invitation which reads as follows:

Greetings Regulator,

In an effort to foster better communication and co-operation between the Town Council, the Town Guard and the Regulators, I would like to invite you to dinner this evening at the town hall.

If all goes well, I would like to make this a regular weekly meeting whereby we can share thoughts and ideas of things going on in our fair valley and how to best protect ourselves.

Dinner will be served promptly at sunset.

Warmest regards,

Mayor Baugh

Harvestide Holiday in Grey's Deep

The town of Grey's Deep was blessed today with a warm, sunny autumn day.

People took time out from their busy work and celebrated in the center of town under Pyril's Embrace (the name given to the mighty oak planted in the fallen Druid's honor).

Picnic tables were set up and everyone brought food to eat and wine to drink.

Local minstrels played music on an impromptu stage near the Olden's table.

At noon, the mayor appeared to say a few words to the gathered people.

"My friends, it has been a trying season for all of us. I would like to ask that we take this moment and remember those who are no longer with us. ", Mayor Baugh lowers his head and mouths a silent prayer. Many of the townsfolk also do the same. After a brief moment of silence the mayor begins speaking again.

"It is also important for us to give thanks to Shandukul and Lathander for watching over our small village and bestowing their blessings on us all. The harvest this year has been excellent and the farmers have their hands full these waning days of the growing year. "

A loud round of applause erupts from the crowd. Many of the farmers in attendance bow and smile to folks in town.

The mayor waves to the crowd to hold their applause. "I'd also like to thank the Regulators. As we all know, they have been instrumental in keeping all of us safe and secure. With them around I know I sleep better at night."

With that the crowd explodes with loud hooting and cheering. The mayor singles out the Regulators in attendance, pointing to Brannic, Jellen, Jode and Vig.

After several minutes of cheerint, the mayor then waves his hands to settle the crowd down.

"Well I thought for all everyone's been through we deserve some big city entertainment. The City Council and I have secured the renowned Illusionist Lohrin to provide a show for us all"

As he finished speaking, the Mayor disappears in a cloud of white smoke, only to be replaced with a gnome, wearing a large wide brimmed hat with a glowing orange feather, dressed in flowing crimson and purple robes astride a snow white pony.

Lohrin waves his hat to the crowd and yells, "Tada!"

The mayor steps out from behind the nearby tree and shakes the hands of the surprised villiagers. The celebration begins again in earnest!

Throughout the rest of the day, Lohrin treats the towns folk with all sorts of stories and songs. Using his magic he is able to tell these stories visually, as images of battles long fought and loves lost that are found again, dance in the air before the crowd.
