17th of Marenpoth - Meriti Departs

An icy breeze was in the air this morning. A thin layer of frost covered the landscape as residents awoke to the morning sun. The sky was a bright blue without a trace of clouds to be seen.

By mid morning the Meriti and the other Dwarves had packed their gear and started the day and a half journey back up the trail to the mines. A couple of villagers wandering by the Olden Inn stopped by to give the Dwarves as small sendoff.

After their departure the town seemed to fall quiet. People walked about is muted silence. The arrival of the Dwarves filled people with a sense of safety. It was nice to know that they were others in the area who were willing to help out. Though that didn't change the fact that over the past year the tiny town of Grey's Deep seemed to become a magnet for an increasing level of malice and bad luck.

Activity at the Church of Lathander was as busy as it had been the past several days. Many people went in to meet with Abbot Toler. Candles could be seen burning late into the evening most nights these days in the church.

Can he find a solution to the portal before something comes through?
Will the Dwarves plan work in preventing more incursions?

These were thoughts that many people were thinking about.

16th of Marpenoth - Meriti Arrives

In the late morning hours, the towns folk witnessed a small parade of heavily armored Dwarves descend from the southern mountains. Leading the column of eight Dwarves was their leader, a stout black-bearded dwarf in dented and blackend half-plate named Meriti.

The town guards quickly meet with Meriti and his entourage and lead them to the town hall. The Dwarves were greeted with friendly waves and other pleasant gestures as they walked through town.

Upon arriving at the town hall, they all quickly disappeared inside to meet with Mayor Baugh and the other Council members.

After about an hour, the Dwarves left the hall flanked by Council member Cassandra Boliard and Sheriff Enoman. They headed towards the town entrance and presumably up to inspect the cave entrance.

After spending several hours outside of town, the party returned for another brief meeting in the town hall.

Due to the lateness of the day the Mayor and town Council approached the Olden's to see if they could host the Dwarves for the night. The Dwarves were found fresh beds and warm meals at the Olden Inn. They are due to depart at first light in the morning.

13th of Marpenoth - Tragidor Returns

As the folks of Grey's Deep began their morning tasks, they were greeted by a familiar face. Tragidor and his caravan of supplies rolled in early this morning and setup shop in the center of town.

As people were looking over his wares many were surprised by the increase in quality for a lot of the items. When asked about this Tragidor responded, "Ever since the Regulators have been keeping the Valley safer it doesn't cost me as much to bring these goods in. I'm able to bring in better quality items and a few more of them. Have a look and let me know if you see anything you like."

12th of Marpenoth - Dinner with the Council

Funereal services were held for the family members who were killed in the attack from two nights ago. Abbot Toler led the services in the small cemetary located behind the church of Lathander just after the regular morning service. Most of the townsfolk stayed after the morning service to attend the funeral. The morning sun was not able to pierce the thick grey clouds overhead and a chill breeze was felt by all in attendance.

After the services the Regulators discussed preliminary plans with the town guard to setup some kind of makeshift watch over the cave and portal. For now it was decided to rotate two guards to watch over the cave until a more permanent solution could be found. Guards were given a signal horn which they could blow if in trouble.

The town council dinner which was originally planned for last night has been moved to this evening. The Regulators have been invited to attend to discuss the recent developments in the town.
