25th of Flamerule (Summertide) - Strange visions in the Night

The past several Ten Days have seen many strange things happen at night in the town of Grey's Deep.

Patrols walking the fence line at night have heard strange noises of flesh ripping and bone snapping. Investigating these noises the following morning they have found the mutilated corpses of over a dozen deer.

People in town have also reported seeing strange wispy shapes 'floating' near the temple of Lathander. The shapes didn't seem to last long and no one could provide a good description of what they saw. Cleric Toler Banrak has assured the public that the church is fine, though this doesn't seem to disuade people from watching it at night for glimpses of these strange apparitions.

Also, several fishermen including Handir Gamelyn, have found their boats damaged during the night. Apparently they were hit by a bombadment of stones. The stones weren't as big as the Greengrass, perhaps around 20 lbs or so, but were thrown or dropped with enough force to wreck a number of boats and the dock.

Anxiety in the town is growing. People are becomming scared that some sort of attack on the town in imminent. Some talk of closing the town off to strangers, other think the problems are being caused by the Giants from the mountains. There are some villagers who are fed up with all this and simply want to leave.

3rd of Flamerule (Summertide) - Tragidor returns

The early morning hours of the 3rd of Flamerule brought with it a familiar face.

The merchant Tragidor and his travelling caravan lumbered slowly into town. This time through however, the villagers noticed a larger contingent of guards with the caravan.

Also with Tragidor, was a stranger who claimed to have business with the City Council. No one is sure who this cloaked individual was, but it seemed odd he/she was wearing a dark heavy cloak on a warm summer morning. The stranger spent several hours with the Council before leaving later that morning.

Answering the queries from the villagers about the guards, Tragidor mentioned that carrying the expensive religious artifacts to rebuld the temple of Lathander means more attention from Brigands and Highwaymen. Also the roads outside the valley are becomming more treacherous with the warm Summer days. More dangerous creatures are out and about these days and one needs to be careful.

Some of the goods which Tragidor brought with also included items for the villagers and Regulators.

Here is a listing of what is now available:

2nd of Flamerule (Summertide) - Meeting with Birchnor

Early on the morning of the 2nd, just after Dawn, Ursus quietly steps into the clearing and blows softly on his pipes. A soothing sound washes over the sleeping group (including a snoring Caurus). The sound of the music calmly wakes everyone in the group.

Seeing everyone is now awake, Ursus, clears his throat and speaks, "The ancient and wise Birchnor will gladly see you over a breakfast meal. If you will gather your things and follow me, I will take you to him."

The party quietly gathers up their bedrolls and gear and follows Ursus through a winding path away from the clearing. After travelling only several minutes, the group is greeted by a familiar presence.

There in the center of a large glade, is a towering birch tree. The "trunk" of the tree seems to twist about and begin speaking.

"Greetings Regulators. I trust you are well rested from your trip yesterday." A large limb sweeps down from above and the air seems to sparkle in front of your eyes for a moment. From out of nowhere, a pile of fresh fruit and nuts appears on large flat leaves. Next to the fruit is a bowl containing what appears to be fresh water.

"We can discuss why you have come while you are eating."

1st of Flamerule (Summertide) - Off to See Birchnor

The Regulators who aren't in training (Brannic, Caurus, Jellen and Seraph) gathered their belongings and headed back to the woods to see Birchnor.

Having been there several times now and knowing the route, they were able to make it there before sunset. Ursus, the Satyr, was waiting for the group not far from where the party last spoke with Birchnor.

"Birchnor is currently entertaining guests this evening and will not be able to meet with you today. If you'll follow me this way please." as Ursus motions the party off the path to an open spot in the forest. "You may rest here for the evening. You will be granted an audience with Birchnor in the morning."

He looks to see if anyone in the group has any questions before leaving.

30th of Kythorn - Rebuilding

Over the past several tendays, the peaceful folks of Grey's Deep have been hard at work repairing the damage done by the strange "rain of rocks". It has taken them all month, but now all the wooden buildings have either been successfully repaired or rebuilt from the ground up.

The necessary wood for these projects and the demand from the fence project has stressed the lumbermill to its limit. It is currently down for repairs. This has set the expected docks repairs back until next spring. The fishermen aren't happy about this, but they understand where the priorities are. For now, they'll make due with the boat landing near the southern edge by the river. The docks have been roped off and people are warned not to go near them.

Not all the buildings are fully repaired from the damage however. The Temple of Lathander was constructed primarily out of stone and mortar. The damage done from the boulders severely damaged sections of the church and parts had to be levelled for safety. The most affected areas were the living quarters and meditation chambers for the priests. Luckily, the altar and communal area were mostly spared from the assault and were made available to the public almost immediately. It has taken the entire month of Kythorn to rebuild the damaged foundations and outer walls. Oddly, the Priests have recently forbade anyone from assisting with the reconstruction efforts located inside. They claim it is the will of Lathander that they tend to it themselves. With enough work to do already, the townsfolk are more than happy to let them handle this project on their own.

In other news, the town jailhouse has been rebuilt, and reinforced. Deputy Makus Donhelm was officially sworn in as the new town Sheriff today. Until recently he was acting as the temporary Sheriff until the City Council made a decision on who Jacer Varuin successors would be. With the Jailhouse now complete, they felt it was a good time to make the news official.

Enin Rayod (the town alchemist and scribe) and Seraph have spent many hours during the past month looking over the rocks, trying to decern how they fell from the sky. Their research has shown that no magical aura was detected on any of them and all were roughly shaped and not machined. They did find on some of the larger pieces 3 long grooves carved out on one side, but they aren't sure if this is natural or not.

Jode and Vig led parties into the nearby hillsides to see if they could determine what happened. After several days of searching, they found a rockslide about a mile up the trail headed south into the mountains. This rockslide appeared to have large boulders torn from them. It is believed that the rocks which fell from the sky, came from this rockslide. How, is another question that is yet unanswered.

The town also greeted the return of Caurus and Jellen from their mysterious training in the forest. Both looked extremely tired yet seemed to show a greater confidence in themselves. After a short exchange of words, they ushered Jode and Vig off for their turn with Nimbus.

All in all, things have been very quiet and calm in the past 30 days. No one is sure if this trend will continue, but all are hoping it will.

1st of Kythorn (The Time of Flowers )

The entire town has come together to repair the damage from the mysterious attackers the previous night.

The town mourns the new loss of Constable Jacen Vaurn. He will be buried in a place of honor in the town graveyard at the southern edge of the village. The kobold prisoner will also be buried in the plot as well, though in an unmarked grave since his true name was not known.

The townsfolk have collected almost 40 stones which rained down on the site. The temple of Lathander and the jail seem to have taken the most hits, though these two places are fairly close to one another.

The clerics of Lathander have been busy clearing debris from the altar and pews and plan to have a service there tomorrow morning.

Tragidor, has decided to take his leave a day early. He has taken down some requests from the townsfolk of goods they would like him to bring. He said he will try and return within 2 TenDays if possible.

For now there is plenty of work to be done to keep folks busy.

Greengrass - Holiday

Early this morning Jode, Brannic and Seraph departed for a trip into the nearby woods to as Birchnor their one question.

The town has decided not to conduct the normal Greengrass celebrations in honor of the fallen Pyril.

::: After a long trek through the woods, Brannic, Jode and Seraph find Birchnor as the sun is fading over the mountains:::

Birchnor speaks, "So the humanoids have returned. Did you find what you were seeking in the Ruins to the West?"
